Can Google Drive Play MP4 Files?

Google Drive has a built-in MP4 player that can play most multimedia file types like .mov, .mp4, .m4a, .m4v, .mpg/.mpeg, .wmv, .avi, and .flv. You just need to upload the multimedia file directly into your Google Drive account and open it with Video Player for Google Drive.

Here are the following steps you need to take in order to play MP4 files in Google Drive for PC:

Step 1: Sign in to your Google Drive using your Gmail account.

Step 2: Click on New > File Upload > Select the MP4 file you want to play:

Step 3: After the upload is completed, right-click on the MP4 file > Open with > Video Player For Google Drive:

Step 4: After clicking on the Video Player for Google Drive, it should open a new tab that would ask you to authorize the Video player for Google Drive to access your account. Click Login & Authorize > Select your Google account that has the MP4 file you want to open > Click Allow:

Step 4.1: Video Player for Google Drive might ask you to disable your adblocker if your using one, go ahead and disable it.

Step 5: After you successfully authorize Video Player for Google Drive, you need to go back to Google Drive and right-click the file again > Open with > Video Player for Google Drive.

Step 6: That should play the MP4 file you want using your browser.
